Two songs from Den Hugz!

My dearest Nana, love of my life!

Today I posted two songs for you from bands from Den Hugz. First, a song called Venus by Shocking Blue form 1969. Actually, it is KittEhhhs new shocker, she loves to sing: "Im your Venus, Im yOur fire at yoUr desiRE!" and then she will look at you for just one moment too long, then turning around with her chin and tail up in the sky... This Den Hugz hit scored number one in EU countries as well as in the US. Lyrics here.

Second up is Radar Love by the Dutch Rolling Stones so to speak, a band called The Golden Earring who have been on tour for 50 years now. You know, HUGZY likes to sing this song, "pAwwsSS weT on TeHh WheeEL" because he is on Dadzy's lap during car rides pretending to be the driver ;-) Lyrics here.

You know, you are also my Venus, godess of love, and we also have something called Radar Love because we are in a long distance relationship!

I love you and I miss you, so as a bonus I added a third song from the Rolling Stones which I like, just because of the sound. Its rough and tough and it is rock and roll, but the feeeling is sincere.

Love, teh meez/

Holidays to celebrate together

Dear teh Meez,

Autumn is around now, and I can smell holiday in the air. One of the parts of living together I am looking very much forward to is celebrating different holidays from both of our cultures together. Here is my list (in chronological order!):

1-      New year’s eve and New year’s day

2-      Valentine’s day

3-      Norouz

4-      13 bedar

5-      Holloween (just home decoration!!!)

6-      Sinterklaas

7-      Kerstdagen

8-      Yalda night

Of course when we are too busy we can skip some.

I just realized how hectic it gets in December!  The perks of being in an international relationship. :D

Dutch songs

Dear Nana,

I thought Id post some Dutch songs you might like. I think you will love this 1970s song from a Dutch protest singer Boudewijn de Groot. The song is called Verdronken Vlinder which means Drowned Butterfly. I added the text below, it would be a great excercise for you to translate it and repost it on our blog. Just leave open parts which you find too difficult and I will fill in the gaps. The song and the text are simply brilliant and you won't regret translating it!

Kisses,

teh meez/

Fashion for Nana

Helloes Nana,

If you allow me I want you to be my fashion dress up girl: I want to go shopping for clothes for you and also with you!

You wear beautiful clothes and I noticed you have three styles: most commonly you dress casual, a skirt out of jeans fabric, boots and a top for instance. Or jeans and a top, or jeans with a sweater and shawl.

Your second dressing style is casual but a little bit more alternative with a hint of hippie and a hint of native/nature. For instance a pair of jeans with holes in it, a purple palestinian shawl and wooden bracelets and necklace or natural stones/feathers.

Your third style is your drop dead gorgeous style for when you dress up for a happy occasion, wearing your beautiful red dress!

I think you have a great sense of fashion and I would love to explore new styles with you. I think you should explore three new styles.

For formal occasions I would love to find you a formal outfit, but since you are not a very business type like person it has to have something casual about it.

Secondly, I think you could use a more adult way of dressing, I would love you to find something that is inspired on skirt suits from the 50's. I am thinking of skirts with an even tone and a black and white top.

Lastly, for a dress up theme party I would love to dress you up like an Indian! You already use hippie/nature elements, dressing you up like an squaw (female North American native) would suit you and would impress the other party animals because you have the skin tone, hair and face to totally pull it off!

Youre my Pomz!!!Kisses, teh meez/

This is more business style but still wearable outside the office!

Its the opposite of what you normal wear! This is conservative, military. You wear casual with nature and alternative tones. You would not feel comfy in this, but some elements you could use, see other pics.
A modern skirt suit, maroon coloured
This would look good on you, its formal but it has some creative elements such as the pattern and the lower end of the jacket.

Without the gloves it would be good for you, except the pink should be a different plain clour.

It is knitwear and the even colour and the belt has something 50s about it. Because it is red and straight it also has an Eastern touch. It is casual, but sexy and a bit formal too. I think it would suit you very well!

To the right: dress up party! Something like this, but better would be a darker colour.

Appreciate Stuff We Have Already Day

Dear Nana,

It may sound weird but Im thinking of planning a "Appreciate stuff we already have day" every two months. During that day we take a few hours to take care of the stuff we have and feel good about them. We polish our shoes to keep them pretty, we organise our clothes and iron some of them, we do some maintenance on our gadgets to keep them rolling and so on. Also we make sure we hang on to the stuff we care about by adding security or adding labels with our contact details. Doing this makes us feel good and by appreciating what we already have we feel less need to buy things we don't need.

Im going to spend two hours tomorrow to do this. This way I remember all the stuff I have and to appreciate them. I will take my bicycle to the repair shop to make it more comfy to ride. Also I will label my coats and bags. I have special labels with my name and phone number on them. I can iron them into my coats. I have lost three or four coats the last 10 years, with a label Im sure I wouldve gotten one or two back!

Kisses, teh meez/

A simple lock to lock suitcases or coats when we are travelling

A label to label our stuffz

Polishing shoes keeps them healthy and we appreciate them more.

BUGZY's corner

Helloes Nana,

I did some googling and I found a gazillion ideas for the puppy corner, should we get BUGZY. Some ideas are very luxurious, others are plain and simple. Personally I like the quite simple ideas, although I also put up a picture here of someone who built a luxurious shower cabin, just for the dog...

Kisses, teh MeeEEezzz

A special doggy shower in the by-kitchen. I guess for ppl who have a lot of dogs and money or who take care of other ppls dogs professionally.

A storage solution for doggy stuff such as food, toys and shampoo.
It is a foldable crate that will fit a beagle!

This is a DIY recycling project, its actually a childrens bed turned upside down, painted and with an added pillow.

Leash / carriage for BUGZY

Dear Nana,

For our BUGZY we should get a cool and cute leash, I dont know what it is called in English, but in Dutch it is called a "tuigje", which means as much as "little gear". It is better for the Beagle's neck and also it seems to prevent BUGZY from pulling the leash too much. I see Dutch Beagles with them all the time.

Mediterranean inspiration

For the colours in the house we should get inspiration from the mediterranean! So, we're not gonna live in a replica of some mediterranean house, since we are in The Netherlands after all, but surely we can get inspiration from it. When thinking about living together with you I always think of warm colours and cool stuff!

For the pictures below I like the blue windows, the earth tone walls, the stone tiles in the garden, the big flower pots in the garden and the dark orange in the drapes.

Bed Tray Tafeltjes

Dear teh meEz,

One thing I definitely want in our future home is bed tray table (two of them actually). This way we can easily have breakfast in bed in the weekends, and of course use laptops in bed without them getting boiling hot. I lurrrrrv these two:

The picture also reminds me of the surprise croissants you bought me every now and then from the bakery close to our home last year. Yummy! ;)

PS. Tables in the above picture are for sale here.

Love,
Nana

Biking Trips

Dear teh meEz,

One thing I‘d love to learn from you is cycling. Good cycling I mean.  I’d love us to get good bikes (and helmets!) and go on easy biking trips.

We can also get a 2 person bike, like this:

Maybe we can even rent it, huh? And you get to pedal in the front and lead  ;D
The basket on the back is for a 2 person tent and sleeping bags, this way we will be more mobile.
Just Imagine lying down on the grass together, enjoying the summer breeze and looking at the blue sky after a long cycling...

PS. Remember that my notion of length is different from yours when it comes to cycling, so don't be too tough on me. X(

Reunion

Dear teh meEZ,

I am not quite sure when you read this; maybe we are already together when you do.
I just want to tell you how grateful I am for you traveling all the way here to see me and meet my family and friends. I am overexcited and cannot believe this is really happening.
Just one night of sleep and one more day of work, and I am gonna see you and touch you…
It is simply priceless!

Love,
Nana
